Meanings

Literally 'neglect class' — unauthorized absence from school.

他经常旷课，老师很生气。

Tā jīngcháng kuàngkè, lǎoshī hěn shēngqì.

He often skips class, and the teacher is very angry.

旷课三次以上会被扣分。

Kuàngkè sān cì yǐshàng huì bèi kòufēn.

Skipping class more than three times will result in points being deducted.

usage

旷课 implies unauthorized absence — it's always negative. For excused absences, use 请假 (qǐngjià). The 旷 character also appears in 旷工 (skip work).
