Tips

usage
战栗 is literary and reserved for trembling caused by fear, awe, or dread - not cold. Compare 发抖 (general shaking, including from cold) and 颤抖 (slightly more neutral). Note that here means 'shudder', not 'war' - its earlier meaning preserved in this compound.
culture
Stephen King's novel 'The Shining' was translated into Chinese as 《闪灵》, but the word 战栗 became famous in Chinese horror titles - e.g. the 1997 Tony Leung film 《战栗目击者》.
