尹洙

Yin Zhu, courtesy name Shilu (师鲁), was a Northern Song scholar-official and a key figure in the early classical-prose revival movement (古文运动). He worked closely with Ouyang Xiu (欧阳修) and Fan Zhongyan (范仲淹), advocating a return to the lean, direct style of Han and Tang prose against the ornate parallel prose then in fashion. His best-known work is 《河南先生文集》. He was also a military advisor on the Western Xia frontier.

尹 (Yǐn) is the surname (also a common Chinese surname today); 洙 (Zhū) is the given name — borrowed from the river 洙水 in Shandong, near Confucius's hometown, signaling scholarly aspirations.
