Yin Zhu, courtesy name Shilu (
师鲁), was a Northern Song scholar-official and a key figure in the early classical-prose revival movement (
古文运动). He worked closely with Ouyang Xiu (
欧阳修) and Fan Zhongyan (
范仲淹), advocating a return to the lean, direct style of Han and Tang prose against the ornate parallel prose then in fashion. His best-known work is 《
河南先生文集》. He was also a military advisor on the Western Xia frontier.
