宿迁 is the hometown of 项羽 (Xiang Yu, 232-202 BCE) — the Western Chu hegemon who briefly overthrew Qin before losing the Chu-Han contention to Liu Bang. It's also the hometown of JD.com founder 刘强东, which is why the city hosted JD's customer-service and logistics centers and benefited massively from e-commerce-era investment. Famous liquor: 洋河大曲, one of the 中国八大名酒.

宿 here is pronounced sù (overnight/dwell), not xiǔ (night as a measure word) or xiù (as in 星宿 'constellation'). Chinese place names preserve older readings — 宿迁 'move (one's) dwelling' reflects its founding legend.
