Tips

usage
Usually shortened to 法华经. 鸠摩罗什 (Kumarajiva) translated it in 406, and his version is the one read in Chinese Buddhism. 妙法 is 'the wondrous Dharma', and 莲华 an old way of writing 莲花 'lotus'.
culture
Its 28 chapters include the parable of the burning house and the chapter on 观世音, the 普门品, which is often chanted on its own. It is the central scripture of the Tiantai school, and the idioms 昙花一现 and 聚沙成塔 come from it.
