大熊 most often appears in
大熊座 (Dàxióngzuò) — Ursa Major, 'the Great Bear' constellation containing the Big Dipper (
北斗七星). It also serves as a friendly nickname for a large/cuddly person. In the Doraemon (《
哆啦A梦》) franchise, the protagonist's friend Nobita is rendered
大雄 (also Dàxióng) — same pinyin, different second character.
