Zengcheng is the easternmost district of Guangzhou, upgraded from a county-level city to a district in 2014. It's famous for 增城挂绿, a legendary variety of lychee once reserved as imperial tribute, a single fruit from the oldest tree has sold at auction for over 500,000 RMB.
