Short for 国家工商行政管理总局. In the March 2018 State Council reform it was merged with the food-and-drug and quality-inspection administrations into the new 国家市场监督管理总局 (SAMR — State Administration for Market Regulation). The old name still appears on older business licenses and legal documents.
