Founded in 936 by 石敬瑭, who paid for Khitan help by ceding the Sixteen Prefectures around modern Beijing and Datong and calling himself the Khitan ruler's 'son'. The Khitans ended it in 947. The 旧唐书 was compiled under it.
mistakes
Not to be confused with 后金, the state Nurhaci founded in 1616, which English also calls Later Jin. 晋 and 金 differ in tone as well as in character.
