grammar
吃的 is a noun made with 的: "things to eat". 喝的 (drinks) and 穿的 (clothes) work the same way. It is casual; the neutral, written word is 食物. Not every 吃的 is this noun: in 我吃的是面 "what I ate was noodles" it is the verb 吃 followed by 的.
