司机师傅 combines
司机 (driver) with
师傅 (master craftsman, respectful address for tradespeople). Using
师傅 alone to flag down a cab is totally normal and polite. Don't call a driver just
司机 to his face — it can sound curt.
师傅 is the safe, warm default with any skilled service worker (driver, plumber, chef).
