卢

Divination radical (Kangxi 25) on top — the indexing radical. 卜 is a pictograph of cracks on a heated oracle bone. Here it serves as the indexing radical of the simplified form 卢, even though the traditional 盧 had a different etymology (a brazier/black pot). Today 卢 is mostly a surname (卢 Lú).

Bottom element 尸 — historically pictures a person bent or seated. In 卢 it is a residual graphic shape from the simplification of 盧 (which had 田+皿 inside a 虍 wrapper); the modern stylised 尸 shape carries no productive semantic role and is mainly a visual remnant.
