Formal/legal register. 公署 mostly appears in titles of bureaus and historical/Republican-era county offices (县公署). Modern PRC bureaucracy prefers 局 (jú), 办公室 (bàngōngshì), or 委员会 (wěiyuánhuì); 公署 survives in Hong Kong/Macau official names.
