Tips

culture
元让 is Xiahou Dun's 字 (courtesy name) - classical Chinese texts and Three Kingdoms fiction often use the 字 instead of the given name as a mark of respect.
history
The eye-eating scene, 拔矢啖睛, is the novel's invention: history records only the lost eye. That earned him the nickname 盲夏侯 'Blind Xiahou', which he hated so much that he would throw his mirror to the ground in anger.
