history

林彪, written into the party constitution in 1969 as Mao's successor, fled on the night of 12 September 1971 with his wife 叶群 and his son 林立果. Their Trident jet crashed near 温都尔汗 Öndörkhaan in Mongolia in the early hours of the 13th, killing all nine on board.

usage

The name is the date, and 一 is read yī, as in other date names such as 九一八事变 (18 September 1931). The yāo used for 1 in phone and room numbers is wrong here.
