Tips

history
On the night of 18 Sept 1931, officers of Japan's Kwantung Army staged a small explosion on the South Manchurian Railway near Mukden (Shenyang) and blamed Chinese troops. Japan used it as a pretext to occupy all of Manchuria within months and install the puppet state Manchukuo (满洲) in 1932. Today Shenyang sounds citywide sirens annually.
