In Chinese history, the term most often refers to the 中华民国临时政府 of 1912, which Sun Yat-sen led for three months in Nanjing before handing power to Yuan Shikai. The word also appears for Russia's 1917 临时政府 (Kerensky's government) and many post-coup or wartime governments.
