From 's《》(Song dynasty): a sick rich man's room was decorated with gold-fitted utensils and shimmering paper, so brilliant that visitors said a stay there 'made one drunk on paper and lost in gold' (令人金迷纸醉). The phrase has flipped to mean intoxicating but corrupting luxury.
