金达莱 is the Chinese transliteration of Korean 진달래 (jindallae) — Rhododendron mucronulatum, a wild azalea that blooms pink in early spring across the Korean peninsula and Manchuria. It is the national flower of North Korea (
朝鲜), a symbol of perseverance and joy in Korean poetry, and the title of one of Korea's most beloved poems, 김소월's 〈진달래꽃〉 (Kim Sowol's 'Azaleas').
