载人

Almost always attributive: 载人飞船 (zàirén fēichuán, 'manned spacecraft'), 载人航天 (zàirén hángtiān, 'manned spaceflight'), 载人潜水器 (zàirén qiánshuǐqì, 'manned submersible'). Contrast with 无人 (wúrén, 'unmanned'): 无人机 (wúrénjī, 'drone').

mistakes

载 has two readings: zài (4th tone) for 'to carry' and zǎi (3rd tone) for 'to record'. In 载人 it's zài — same reading as 装载 (zhuāngzài, 'to load'). CC-CEDICT also notes 'also pr. zǎi rén' as a regional variant.
