Claude Monet (克劳德·莫奈) gave Impressionism its name - the 1872 painting 《日出·印象》 (Impression, soleil levant) was the source of the movement's label. His best-known series include 《睡莲》 (Water Lilies), 《干草堆》 (Haystacks), and the views of Rouen Cathedral.
mistakes
Don't confuse with 马奈 (Édouard Manet, 1832-1883) - a different French painter, often grouped with Monet in textbooks but stylistically and biographically distinct.
