Two sayings come from the fight over the province. 刘备借荆州, 'Liu Bei borrows Jingzhou', finished with 有借无还 'borrowed and never returned', is said of someone who keeps what they borrow, and 大意失荆州, 'losing Jingzhou through carelessness', after Guan Yu's defeat in 219, warns against overconfidence.
usage
