Tips

culture
Isengard (Sindarin Angrenost, 'iron fortress') is the circular stronghold around the tower of Orthanc in Tolkien's legendarium. Held by the corrupted wizard Saruman (萨鲁曼), it is destroyed when the Ents () flood the valley after the Battle of Helm's Deep (). Featured prominently in The Two Towers (《奇兵》).
usage
Phonetic transliteration: 'ai' + 'xin' (rendering 'sen') + 'ge' (rendering '-gard') = 'Ai-xin-ge' ≈ 'Isengard'. Mainland Chinese editions of Lord of the Rings standardize this spelling; some Taiwanese editions use 艾辛格阿斯 or different choices.
