Tips

usage
Two related senses: (1) verbal 'enumeration' — listing reasons, facts, or examples in writing or speech (罗列证据 'enumerate evidence', 罗列事实 'list the facts'); (2) physical 'spread out / dotted across' — buildings, dishes, mountains arrayed in view. The shared image is items laid out one after another. Compare 列举 (lièjǔ, 'to cite as examples') which is more focused on giving illustrative cases.
