Tips

usage
Two related senses: (1) verbal "enumeration" - listing reasons, facts, or examples in writing or speech (罗列证据 "enumerate evidence", 罗列事实 "list the facts"); (2) physical "spread out / dotted across" - buildings, dishes, mountains arrayed in view. The shared image is items laid out one after another. Compare 列举 (lièjǔ, "to cite as examples") which is more focused on giving illustrative cases.
memory
罗 (a hunter's net) + 列 (a row) - picture a net stretched out flat with items caught in a regular pattern. That's the visual core of 罗列: things spread out one after another in view.
