Sacred mountain to the Naxi (纳西族) people of Yunnan, who consider it the home of the deity Sanduo (三朵). The main peak Shanzidou (扇子陡, 5,596 m) has never been officially summited. Zhang Yimou's 印象·丽江 outdoor stage performance is set against it.
