Tips

usage
Named for the fine hairs (毛) on the pod. They are soybeans picked young and green; left to ripen and dry they become 黄豆. Boiled in the pod with salt and star anise they are a classic 下酒菜, a snack with drinks. Shelled green beans on a menu are often 青豆.
