mistakes
Same characters as 正角, a positive angle in maths. Here 角 means a role, the same reading as in 角色 and 主角. Saying jiǎo in a drama context is the usual slip.
usage
Its opposite is 反角, the villain, and both are stock terms in theatre and film talk. Northern speech usually adds erhua: 正角儿.
