history
The historical Li Gang (properly 李纲, 1083-1140) organized the successful defense of Kaifeng during the first Jurchen siege of 1126 — only to be dismissed by the vacillating Emperor Qinzong. When the Jurchens returned and took the capital in 1127 (the Jingkang humiliation 靖康之耻), his removal was widely blamed. He briefly served Southern Song's Emperor Gaozong as Chancellor.
mistakes
The historical figure's correct character is 纲 (gāng, 'main rope; guiding principle'), not 钢 (gāng, 'steel') — but internet searches and informal writing often mix the two since both are read Lǐ Gāng.
