history
At the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, Lee won gold in the women's Mistral one-design windsurfing class — Hong Kong's first ever Olympic gold and, since the handover came in 1997, the only one ever won under British colonial rule. Her victory speech 'Hong Kong athletes are not waste' (香港垃圾) became a generational rallying cry.
