Chinese 木偶戏 traditions go back to at least the Han dynasty. Famous regional styles include 福建提线木偶 (Fujian string-marionette puppets) and 漳州布袋戏 (Zhangzhou hand puppets). The related 皮影戏 (shadow puppetry) is a sister art form.
