景福宫 (Korean: Gyeongbokgung, 경복궁) was built in 1395 by King Taejo as the main palace of the Joseon dynasty. The name means 'palace greatly blessed by heaven' (
景福 = great blessing). It was burned down during the Japanese invasions of 1592 and again partly destroyed under Japanese colonial rule, then progressively restored from the 1990s onward. Tip for visitors: rent a hanbok (한복) and entry is free.
