Opening of
李白《
望庐山瀑布》(Li Bai, Tang):
日照香炉生紫烟,
遥看瀑布挂前川。
飞流直下三千尺,
疑是银河落九天 (Sunlight on Xianglu breeds purple mist; from afar the waterfall hangs like a river in front. Flying current plunges straight down three thousand feet — I think the Milky Way has fallen from the Ninth Heaven).
香炉 here =
香炉峰 (Xianglu Peak, 'Incense-Burner Peak') of Mount Lu, whose rising mist at sunrise looks like smoke from a burning incense censer.
