usage
Used in set phrases of self-satisfaction: 得意扬扬, 扬扬得意 and 扬扬自得. 洋洋 works the same way, as in 洋洋得意. The root is 司马迁's portrait of a chancellor's coachman, 意气扬扬 'puffed up with pride'.
