The most famous bearer is Yìxīn (奕訢), sixth son of the Daoguang Emperor. He negotiated the Convention of Peking in 1860 after the Anglo-French sack of the Old Summer Palace and led the Self-Strengthening Movement (洋务运动).

His Beijing residence, 恭王府 Gōngwángfǔ, is one of the best-preserved Qing princely mansions and a major tourist site near Houhai.
