律政司

律政司 is Hong Kong's equivalent of a Department of Justice / Attorney General's office: it advises the government on law, drafts legislation, and conducts prosecutions. The head, 律政司司长, was inherited from the British colonial role of Attorney General. The TVB legal drama 《律政强人》 ('Law Dis-Order') made the term familiar even outside Hong Kong.

Don't confuse 律政司 (Department of Justice — Hong Kong) with mainland China's 司法部 (Sīfǎ Bù, Ministry of Justice) or 最高人民检察院 (Supreme People's Procuratorate). The HK term reflects its common-law system and colonial-era institutional naming.
