Began with accusations that officials had buried wooden 巫蛊 (wūgǔ, witchcraft puppets) to curse the emperor. Court official Jiang Chong (江充) used the panic to frame Crown Prince Liu Ju, who rose in rebellion, was defeated, and committed suicide. Emperor Wu later regretted the purge and built a 思子宫 ('palace of longing for my son') in remembrance.
