Despite the name, 姬松茸 is NOT a true matsutake (松茸 Tricholoma matsutake). It's a separate species — Agaricus blazei, originally from Brazil, popularized in Japan for supposed immune-boosting properties, and now widely cultivated in China. 姬 ('little / princess') signals the smaller, different mushroom.
