份 (fèn) to a month makes it sound like 'the month of …', emphasizing it as a calendar period (often for statistics, plans, salary cycles).
四月 alone is fine too;
四月份 is slightly more formal and a bit longer to roll off the tongue. Same pattern:
一月份 January,
八月份 August.
