usage
Almost always followed by a place: 响彻云霄 (xiǎngchè yúnxiāo, 'resound to the heavens'), 响彻天地 (xiǎngchè tiāndì, 'resound through heaven and earth'). The 彻 (chè, 'to penetrate completely') gives the sense of sound piercing all the way through space.
