Examples

我在北京和两个同事合租一套三居室。
Wǒ zài Běijīng hé liǎng ge tóngshì hézū yí tào sān jū shì.
In Beijing I share a three-bedroom apartment with two coworkers.
一个人租太贵了,只能合租。
Yí ge rén zū tài guì le, zhǐ néng hézū.
Renting solo is too expensive, so I have no choice but to share.

Tips

usage
合 = 'together', 租 = 'rent'. Distinct from 整租 (zhěngzū, rent a whole unit yourself). Staple of young-professional life in first-tier cities where rent eats huge chunks of salary.
