One of the
九卿 (jiǔ qīng, 'Nine Ministers') of the Han bureaucracy. Originally called
郎中令 (lángzhōnglìng); renamed
光禄勋 by Emperor Wu of Han in 104 BCE. Oversaw the palace guard
郎官 (lángguān), imperial attendants, and ceremonial functions — essentially the chief of the inner court.
