修脚 is very different from a Western nail-salon pedicure — it's more medical, involving razor-sharp curved knives to pare down corns, calluses, and ingrown nails. Yangzhou (
扬州) is the most famous home of the trade, and 'Yangzhou pedicure' (
扬州修脚) is considered the gold standard.
