Tips

history
Literally 'imitation Song'. Early-20th-century design by brothers 丁善之 and 丁辅之 imitating Song-dynasty hand-cut woodblock lettering - thinner, more uniform strokes than modern 宋体, with a slight handwritten angle. Standard face for Chinese government documents (公文) under GB/T 9704.
usage
Don't confuse with 宋体. 宋体 = modern printed Song (thick vertical / thin horizontal). 仿宋 = the older-style imitation, thinner and more even-stroked. Windows/Word ships both as separate fonts.
