Tips
usage
Formal, the written counterpart of 替 or 帮 before a verb: 代为转达 'to pass on (a message) for someone', 代为保管 'to keep (something) for someone'. The stand-in is often named first with 由.
mistakes
为 here has the second tone, as in 作为 and 成为, not the fourth tone of 为 'for'.
