Tips

history
When 重耳 came to power as 晋文公, he forgot to reward him, and Jie Zitui withdrew with his mother into the mountains of 绵山. The duke set the forest on fire to drive him out, and he was found dead with his arms around a willow tree. His name is also written 介之推.
culture
Fires were banned for days in his memory and people ate their food cold, the origin story of the 寒食节, now largely merged with Qingming. The county of 介休 in Shanxi, "where Jie rests", is named after him.
