usage

A two-verb phrase: 下单 (xiàdān, place an order) + 付款 (fùkuǎn, pay). On Taobao/Tmall/JD this is the standard checkout instruction. Distinguish from 下单 alone, which on some sites means reserving without immediate payment.

culture

Chinese e-commerce defaults to mobile payment at checkout — 支付宝 (Alipay) on Alibaba sites, 微信支付 (WeChat Pay) on Pinduoduo. Cash-on-delivery (货到付款 huòdàofùkuǎn) exists but is rare in cities.
