In TCM 龙眼肉 (also 桂圆肉) is a warming tonic for blood and the heart-spleen, classically prescribed in 归脾 for insomnia and exhaustion. The fresh fruit is 龙眼; only the dried, brown, leathery flesh - used as medicine and in sweet soups - is called 龙眼肉.
