Tips

culture
Most famous referent today is the Huanglong Scenic Area (黄龙风景名胜) in northern Sichuan — a UNESCO World Heritage site whose travertine terraces, viewed from above, look like a yellow dragon winding down the mountain. Also a county in Shaanxi, and historically 'yellow dragon' is one of the four cardinal cosmological dragons in Chinese myth. The phrase 黄龙 'strike straight at Huanglong' (Yue Fei's vow to take the Jin capital) gives the name a martial-historical resonance.
