From Meng Haoran's 孟浩然 (Tang dynasty) 《过故人庄》: 故人具鸡黍，邀我至田家。绿树村边合，青山郭外斜, picturing the ease of visiting a friend's farmstead. 郭 means the outer city wall.
usage
斜 is read xié in modern Mandarin; in old verse it was sometimes read xiá to rhyme, and either is acceptable, though modern textbooks favor xié. Often cited together with the preceding line 绿树村边合.
